Using Condition Editors
Certain aspects of Workflow 8 enable you to define routing conditions. You can assign:
- Wait conditions to Laserfiche Routing activities that must be satisfied before an entry will proceed to the next step in a workflow.
- Starting rule conditions to define when a workflow will be performed.
- Decision conditions to configure how an activity should perform (e.g., the Repeat activity's Repeat condition).
Condition editors
- You can create as many conditions as you want by clicking Add condition. To organize conditions into groups, click Add group.
- Right-click a condition or group for more options.
- You can drag and drop conditions and groups using the item's green arrow.
Selecting Entries
Some conditions require you to specify the entry that the condition will be associated with.
Note: You are not required to select entries for starting rule conditions.
Condition filters
Use the
drop-down boxes in the top right corner of the condition editor to:
- Specify a connection profile: For conditions associated with templates, fields, and tags, you must select a Laserfiche repository. This option is only available for starting rule conditions.
- Filter which templates, fields, and/or tags are displayed in the condition editor: To only display a specific template, select the template. To only display specific fields and/or tags, enter text to filter by.
Recursive Conditions
Parent Folder Contents and Folder Contents conditions enable you to apply a recursive function. Recursion enables folder or parent folder conditions to also apply to sub-folders.
Give me an example.
Example: A starting condition is built to trigger a workflow if a specific document is present in the starting entry's parent folder. By selecting the Parent Folder Contents (recursive) condition, the workflow will check the starting entry's parent folder and the parent folder's sub-folders.
Sub-Condition Editor
Some conditions open separate sub-condition editors (e.g., the Parent Folder Contents condition). Sub-condition editors behave the same as regular condition editors.
Tip: You can assign comments to sub-condition editor conditions.
